Importing Inventory Records from an Excel® Spread Sheet

If you have previously kept inventory records in Excel® you will be able to import those records to My Home Inventory.

Tip: For best results change the first line of your Spread Sheet to contain the column title. Example: Instead of “TV” in the first row, put “Item” to indicate that that column is for the name of the item. Doing this will make it easier for you to match up your Spread Sheet columns with the fields in My Home Inventory.

To Import from Excel®….
1. Save a copy of your Excel file as "Text (Tab Delimited)" format.
2. Launch My Home Inventory and choose the File/ Import Records/ File... option.

3. Use the field mapping feature to map your data to the available fields.

4. Leave the default setting of "Add New Record" in the "Import Action" section as is. If it is not, set to "Add New Record,"  then do so.
5. Click the Import Button.
6. An "Import Options" Dialog Box will appear. Check the "Perform auto-enter options..." option and Click OK.

Your data will be imported.
